Session structure and timing
A Performance Recovery Therapy appointment runs for 60 minutes total, including 50 minutes of hands-on work and 10 minutes of preparation and intake. During that time the therapist prioritizes high-demand muscle groups, gathers training context, and sets pressure and focus to match the client's current load and soreness levels.
Because the hands-on portion is concentrated into 50 minutes, the treatment is designed for targeted relief rather than an extensive full-body session. Clients who need broader coverage can book additional time or follow-up treatments; local commuters and shift workers often use our flexible early-morning or evening booking options to fit regular recovery into busy schedules.
Therapeutic methods and focus
The service combines therapeutic massage techniques with targeted muscle work aimed at relieving tension and enhancing local circulation in fatigued tissues. Therapists assess movement restriction and soreness during intake, then adapt pressure and techniques to each athlete's training phase, whether it's a hard workout day or a recovery-focused session.
Intensity and technique are adjusted based on client feedback and recent activity; therapists do not apply a one-size-fits-all approach. Seasonal and regional factors such as Washington's humid summers can influence muscle tightness and hydration needs, and our team accounts for those variables when prioritizing areas and recommending short-term follow-up or complementary self-care.
Results, recovery, and follow-up
Clients seek this treatment to support muscular recovery, improve flexibility, and reduce the fatigue that accumulates from training or active daily life. Expected outcomes depend on training load, sleep, hydration, and consistency of sessions; the therapist provides realistic, non-medical guidance on how this single session can fit into a broader recovery plan.
Follow-up recommendations are individualized: some athletes schedule weekly visits during intense training blocks while others choose biweekly or monthly maintenance. Our location in Langdon and service hours are arranged to help local clients—commuters using Rhode Island Ave–Brentwood or Brookland-CUA Metro stations and visitors to the U.S. National Arboretum—sustain consistent recovery.
